Give the Gift of Swimming This Season

Gift of Swimming

‘Tis the season to find the perfect gift for family and friends. As list building and gift wrapping continue, Step Into Swim reminds parents, grandparents and caregivers alike to consider gifting experiences that extend beyond materialism and offer lifelong benefits, such as swim lessons.

Put swim lessons at the top of the list this season, taking note of the positive benefits that come wrapped all in one.

  1. Swim lessons save lives. Learning to swim isn’t just a recreational skill, but a lifesaving one. Learning to swim from a qualified instructor reduces the risk of drowning by 88% among those ages 1 to 4, showing how important early exposure to swim education can be in protecting children in the water.

  2. Swim lessons build confidence. Mastering swim lessons instills confidence and independence both in and out of the water. Swim lessons are a great way to empower kids to be safe and learn how to make smart decisions about their water surroundings.

  3. Swim lessons encourage a healthy lifestyle and improve overall wellness. Swimming is a good form of exercise that builds cardiovascular fitness, endurance and strength. While learning to swim keeps kids active, it also contributes to stress reduction, better sleep and an improved mood.

  4. Swim lessons are fun. Water play is downright fun! Learning to swim may include age-appropriate games to tap into new skills, and it can also be a time to make friends, find independence in a new activity and burn energy.

Swim lessons are the gift that keeps on giving and offer a fun outlet to teach kids how to be safe in the water, no matter the time of year. Families are encouraged to reach out to their local learn-to-swim program to inquire about gift cards, swimming packages and financial assistance support for lessons, helping to set children up for safe swimming success in the new year.

For those who strongly believe in the power of swim education and want to do more to help those in need this season, consider supporting Step Into Swim in our mission to create more swimmers. Generous contributions to Step Into Swim help provide free or reduced-cost swim lessons to children in underserved communities.

By advocating for safe swim education and instilling confidence in our children, we can work together to create safer swimmers.
