The Parsons Recreation Commission has received a grant from the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance to offer swim lessons.
The grant is part of the Step into Swim program that makes learning to swim opportunities available to children who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford them. As part of the Step into Swim program, the Parsons Recreation Commission and the city of Parsons will offer free lessons to the first 50 children who sign up.
“The grant will provide an opportunity to prepare children to be safer in, on and around bodies of water by teaching water safety skills that could ultimately save lives,” said Ariana Bennett, PRC administrator.
Safety instructors will offer a multi-level, progressive swimming program that focuses on goal setting, working toward those goals and achieving results. To register for swim lessons, please visit the PRC office at 200 S. Heacock Ave., Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
